ANTENNA
MAST FOR EMI / EMC TESTING
The
AM-400 antenna mast is suitable for making EMC measurements
in an Open Area Test Site or test chambers. It can vary the
antenna height from 1-4 meters during measurement as required
by commercial EMC test specifications.
The
mast is constructed using fiberglass tubes and grating material.
This material was chosen because they minimize signal reflections
and have a high degree of immunity to deterioration from exposure
to sunlight and moisture. The cross boom of the mast is a single
fiberglass tube attached to a carrier assembly. The carrier
assembly rides the length of entire mast pulled by a rope and
pulley mechanism attached to a motor. The cross boom has a antenna
mounting adapter located on one end. This adapter was designed
to mount antennas such biconical, logs and horns. The antennas
can be mounted in vertical or horizontal polarization using
this adapter.
For
safety, the carrier assembly has a spring loaded friction brake
that engages against mast to prevent inadvertent decent should
the rope break. In addition a second brake which is integral
with the motor assembly engages if power is turned off. This
brake will also stop the carrier at any point on the mast during
the tests when the remote switch is in the off position. The
mast can be tilted at the base and laid flat on the ground when
not in use.
