Calibration Fixtures for current monitoring and injection probes

Calibration fixtures are used for calibration of Coupling Loss/Transfer Impedance of current probes and BCI probes, as well as for the calibration of test levels for conducted immunity/susceptibility tests using BCI probes.

Com-Power’s Current Monitoring Probes (CLCE Series) and Bulk Current Injection (BCI) Probes (CLCI Series) are engineered to deliver accurate and repeatable results during EMC testing. Each probe is matched with a dedicated Calibration Fixture (FCLCE or FCLC Series) designed to maintain precise geometry and a stable 50-ohm transmission line, ensuring reliable transfer impedance and coupling loss measurements across the probe’s full operating frequency range. Because calibration accuracy depends heavily on fixture geometry and impedance stability, each fixture provides a 50 Ω coaxial-type transmission line environment that encloses the probe and the conductor bundle under test. This ensures the probe operates under the same electromagnetic conditions encountered in real-world EMC test setups in accordance with standards such as MIL-STD-461 and RTCA/DO-160.

Calibration fixtures are used in two primary modes:

Coupling Loss / Transfer Impedance Calibration: For current-monitoring probes (CLCE Series), the fixture drives a known RF signal through its internal conductor while the probe clamps around the conductor to measure induced voltage. This enables calculation of transfer impedance (Zₜ) or coupling loss. (See datasheet.)
BCI Test-Level Calibration: For BCI probes (CLCI Series), the fixture allows precise RF drive to current injection level mapping—ensuring that the probe meets test-level specifications for conducted immunity testing. (See datasheet.)

The cross-reference table below ensures the correct fixture is paired with the corresponding probe, helping engineers avoid mismatches in aperture size, insertion loss or VSWR that could compromise calibration integrity. (Refer to the datasheet for detailed specifications.)
